- Description: Más+ and Unwell Hydration both died with reach to spare. Here is the organic social response: post 90-day repeat, or admit you don't have it, and ask why-not-twice in the comments.

Listen to this episode of The Daily Trends Report, then use the piece below.

Lionel Messi could not buy a second can. Neither could a podcast company that raised money at a $500 million valuation the day before the drink died.

[Más+](https://www.linkedin.com/company/mas-next-generation-beverage-co?ref=giovanni-gallucci.ghost.io), the hydration brand with Mark Anthony behind it, was being phased out by May. [BevNET](https://www.bevnet.com/news/2026/messi-no-mas-world-cup-winners-hydration-brand-phased-out-after-objectives-missed/?ref=giovanni-gallucci.ghost.io) had the miss: objectives not met, less than two years after a Miami launch, with the World Cup sitting right there as a tailwind the product never collected. Messi has 516 million Instagram followers. That number bought trial. It did not buy a second can.

Alex Cooper's [Unwell](https://drinkunwell.com/?ref=giovanni-gallucci.ghost.io) Hydration is winding down this fall. [Fortune](https://fortune.com/2026/08/14/call-her-daddy-alex-cooper-unwell/?ref=giovanni-gallucci.ghost.io) had it August 14\. Nestlé was the joint-venture partner. Target was the door. Halloween flavors are the last run. The broader Unwell media business raised that same week. Attention and permission are not the same asset. Cooper has the first in a way almost nobody in CPG will ever have. The cooler still asked for a second purchase.

If you run organic social for a food or beverage brand that earned doors the ugly way, do not benchmark launch week against either of these. The comp that predicts survival is repeat at 90 days, DMs answered by a human, and a reason to buy the second unit that isn't a face. Fame is a media plan. Repeat is a product.

This is negative news for the fame playbook. Treat it that way. Don't gloat. Don't pitch your founder as the anti-celebrity. Show the number that actually keeps a facing: repeat, not reach.

This article is the extension. The show is the briefing. The post is what you do with it.

## What you post this week

You're not ratioing Messi. You're pinning your 90-day repeat, or admitting you don't have it yet.

Same caption on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. Stories first, then the feed.

Copy you can paste:

A World Cup face didn't buy a second can. A $500 million podcast didn't either.

Our number is uglier and more useful. \[X\] percent of the people who bought \[SKU\] in the last 90 days bought it again. That's the job. If you're a shopper, this is the drink. If you're a buyer, that's the sheet. I answer the DMs myself until that number moves.

What you do not post:

Celebrities could never.

We're founder-built, which is why we're better.

RIP Más+.

Don't dunk. Don't post a follower count as a flex in the same week follower count just failed in public. Don't invent a repeat rate. If you don't have 90-day repeat, post the honest substitute: reorder messages this month, subscription skips, or "we don't have this number yet and we're building the pull."

## The still

Don't use a lifestyle hero with a sweating athlete. That's their leftover key art. This is a reorder.

Shoot it on a phone. Packing table or kitchen. Window light.

Frame two of your actual units, one open, one closed, a yellow mug, no celebrity merch, no fake text. If you have a handwritten reorder tally, that's the prop.

If you only have one still, that's the still.

## The video (one take, 20 to 30 seconds)

You. Founder. Handheld. No licensed anthem.

Shot list:

1. Hands, two cans, to camera (3 seconds)
2. The reorder tally or the subscription screen angled so UI type isn't readable (4 seconds)
3. Sip. No acting (3 seconds)
4. On camera, the line below (10 to 14 seconds)
5. End card: 90-day repeat, or "we don't have it yet."

Say it like this:

Fame bought the first can. It didn't buy the second. Our number is \[X\] percent repeat in 90 days, or I don't have it yet and I'm not going to fake it. If you bought once, tell me why you wouldn't buy twice. That's the only comment I care about this week.

Don't say "authentic always wins." Don't name the celebrities again. Show the number.

Captions on. Burn in one card: 90-day repeat.

Post it native. Same caption as the still.

## The comments (this is the actual job)

Pin the number. For 72 hours, a human replies.

Public reply to "so Messi flopped":

The drink did. I'm not in that business. Repeat is in the pin. If you bought us once, tell me why you wouldn't again.

Public reply to a first-time buyer:

Thanks for the first can. What's the reason you wouldn't grab a second.

Stop at one reply. Don't dunk. Don't pitch.

## LinkedIn, for retail and your own team

Launch-week velocity is a press cycle. Ninety-day repeat is a facing. We're putting \[X\] on the sheet and answering why-not-twice in public. If you buy beverages, that's the conversation, not a follower screenshot.

If you're reading this on someone else's shutdown, don't dunk. Post your repeat. That's the advantage play, and it's only honest if the number is real.

## If this is sitting on your calendar

Pull 90-day repeat this week. If you can't, start the pull. Put the number or the hole on camera. Rewrite the launch brief so "awareness" is not the win condition.

If putting a real 90-day repeat number on camera and asking why-not-twice in the comments is the part that's hard, that's the work I do. I'm giovanni gallucci. Twenty-plus years in organic social for outdoor lifestyle and clean-label food and beverage brands. Ad Age, Emmy, Shorty, Telly, Webby on the shelf. The useful part is I embed with your team and ship the posts. I don't do paid ads or email.
